“I see things so beautiful that no one would believe a painting of them. So I include the actual thing in the work for proof of that beauty.”
The recent work often refers to humble subjects: discarded, distressed, abandoned wood, home construction materials, railroad tie splinters, old books, etc.
Also more exotic woods are presented and honored with portraits. (Purpleheart, Osage, Rosewood Longleaf Pine).

The painting/assemblages are oil on canvas with the actual items carefully mortised
flush into the canvas with a faithful portrait of the item/subject close by.
