Folds of Desire by Lesley Bodzy
April 9th – June 4th, 2022

Lesley Bodzy has astounded us with her impressive skill and style as an impressionist painter. She has tenaciously explored styles and mediums that have now led her to sculpture.
Bodzy’s first solo exhibition in Texas is composed of free standing sculptures, wall pieces and installations. Her recent works reveal the plasticity of the inner self to protect itself from the wounds of life experiences. It is a sensual and enveloping representation of a desire evoking untainted and pure luminescence.
Each piece represents a moment or a period of time where the artist has exhausted the traditional utility of acrylic paint and thus transforms it into a 3 dimensional object of observation and reflection. The predominant color gold is an eye wink to the Rococo period as an element of seduction. Pleats and undulations mimicking the folds of satin or of skin create “Folds of Desire”.
Lesley Bodzy holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She works in NYC and Houston and is represented by galleries in Houston, TX and in Saugerties, NY. She has been exhibited widely across the United States and abroad. Recent shows include ChaShaMa, Sculptors Alliance, and Flatfile in New York City. Holy Art Gallery in London, UK, the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT, and the Susuquehanna Art Museum in Harrisburg, PA, curated International Woman’s Day exhibit at the Mexican Consulate General, Houston, TX.
